NPC20: From April 25 through 28, Houston will be epicenter for all things Planning related as Houston hosts the American Planning Association’s (APA) National Planning Conference. If you’re a Planning nerd like me, this should make you giddy with excitement.
More than 6,000 of our colleagues will be here to learn first-hand about our challenges, our successes, and our forward momentum. As the host city, we are responsible for developing and delivering a citywide tour to showcase great developments happening in Houston, highlight our unique planning opportunities and challenges, and break those pesky Houston stereotypes. These tours take place on Saturday, April 25 and Sunday April 26.
The APA Orientation Tour committee has been working on the route for the last couple of months and now we are now searching for Houstonians who can serve as tour guides. Will you volunteer to be a guide?
There are some great benefits for being a tour guide. If you are AICP, you will receive 3 CM credits for participating as a tour guide. You will have an opportunity to network with 50 or more planners from across the nation. If neither of those benefits are motivators, you might consider that the Houston Local Host Committee is working on a fun event to celebrate and recognize all volunteers.
Interested? Fill out this Doodle Poll to let us know which Saturdays you are available for a tour dry run. Bring your friends, the more the merrier!

I’ll see you at NPC20!
